Opinions on the best free virus program...?

Can you give me your opinion on the most reliable free virus protection program, as I have searched high and low, and come up with as many programs as I have had dinners, but found no clear fore runners, or ideals.

Any help anyone can provide on this subject would be most appreciated.

Thanks for reading
K

A lot of people like to use AVG from Grisoft. I've heard alot of good reviews of that program.

I like AVG. Works great. Regular updates and you can't beat the price.

You would think AVG works great...but it doesn't...they just aren't very speedy on releasing new definitions when new viruses come out.

I recently got an email asking me to open the attached file...normally I wouldn't do such a thing...but since the email was from the college I'm enrolled to attend next year, I was slightly curious.
I figured I would save the attachment, let AVG scan it (after updating it's defiitions)...then run it...
Nothing happened when I ran it...and I knew it was a mistake...but Oh Well! AVG can remove it now, right? Wrong...still didn't find anything...

So I grabbed Norton and it found it immediately...I won't bother with AVG anymore.

There are some online free AV scanners which are good as a supplement. However, don't plan on NOT purchasing one. You need Auto-Protect so it will protect you from viruses before they get on your hard disk(s)...

I am currently running PC-Cillin from www.TREND.com and I like it very much. It is not free, but I think it's the best I have used ( I have never used AVG though...
