Planning on buying a DVD burner

Hey guys.My b-day is coming up pretty soon and I'm planning on getting a DVD burner,but thing is,I've never even worked on CD-burner before.I just want to know some things about DVD burners before I get one.First things first,I really need to know if I can copy PS and PS2 games on any normal DVD burner.I know almost all DVD burners can burn CDs,but I need to know about games.If anyone out there knows something about write protected games and a way to get around,if would be very nice to tell me that as well.I also might need to know if you can play the games on the console without any problems after you burn them.It might also really help me if you know any other way to play the games besides the mod chip.That's really all I need to know.Thanks for paying attention to this.

Yes, you can burn PS2 games with a dvd burner. I don't know if you need a mod chip in the ps2 or not for it to read though. As for work around for burning the protected games. well I think it is against forum rules to discuss it here.

Though it is legal to copy YOUR OWN games on a DVD burner...I'm fairly sure you need a modchip to play it...and installing a modchip is illegal, though Sony hasn't actually bothered procecuting people for buying/selling modchips to my knowledge...unlike Microsoft with the Xbox.
