Adobe Premiere vs. After Effects

i'm sorry if this is a really simple question, but ..... what's the difference? They both make videos ... but are they for specific types of videos? Thanx

Premiere is designed for editing raw footage into a timeline format, while After Effects is primarily used for providing visual effects and manipulation.

Premiere = compilation, construction and editing
After Effects = manipulation and fancy visual effects

I have no idea if you can actually make a video with After Effects. You probably could, but it's alot easier in Premiere, as it was designed specifically for that particular application.

Re:

thanx for the answer.. : ) but i've been playing around with both.... but it seems like it's actually a lot easier to make a movie with after effects... maybe it's just my inexperience.. hehe... or maybe it's cuz premiere doesn't have the effects that i want

basically... i don't like how you can only fade in and out on one video timeline but can't do it on any other video timeline... also.. i like the way after effects show you the preview without actually having to render (?) the video first.. which takes a long time.. hehe

Interesting... It's always good to find an answer, but it's not usually helpful if you don't know what problem the answer solves... or something.

Just not used to VBulliten

Yeah like DaPharaoh said reply in the thread you started. Don't worry about this mistake, the mods will fix it (they rule like that)

Any way welcome to TechIMO
