Solution: Error 1810
Cause 1: Error 1810 can be reported when you attempt to select a non-supported partition type as the destination for the image. Lack of support for certain partitions is usually due to limitations of the version of DOS you used to boot the computer. For instance, if you boot from a Caldera OpenDOS diskette and then run Drive Image, Drive Image will be unable to write to FAT32, NTFS, or HPFS partitions because OpenDOS does not support these partition types. If you run Drive Image after booting from a Windows 95 OSR2 or Windows 98 bootable diskette, Drive Image cannot write to NTFS or HPFS, but can write to both FAT and FAT32.
Fix 1: Check the file system of the partition that you are trying to save the image on. If it is unsupported by the version of DOS you used to boot your computer, then you will need to select a different partition or use a different version of DOS. The latest version of Drive Image creates DOS boot diskettes that allow Drive Image to write to all of the most common partition types, including FAT, FAT32, NTFS, and HPFS.
Cause 2: Error 1810 can be reported if you are using an older version of Drive Image and attempt to save an image file to removable media that may have an assigned drive letter (such as a CD-R drive or tape drive) but that is not supported by your version of Drive Image.
Fix 2: Save the image file to a media type supported by your version of Drive Image, or upgrade to the latest version of Drive Image.
Cause 3: Drive Image Pro only: Error 1810 can be reported if Drive Image Pro is not able to put the network interface card (NIC) into multicasting mode (when using ODI drivers) or promiscuous mode (when using NDIS drivers). The error is reported on the client computer when an attempt is made to select an available server from the Server Select dialog. Usually, some troubleshooting is required to determine whether it is the server or the client that is at fault.
Fix 3: The following troubleshooting checklist can be used to determine the origin of the problem:
- Determine if other clients can attach to the same server. If other clients can attach, the problem is likely with the individual client machine.
- Try attaching to other servers with the same client.
- Make sure that the latest NIC drivers have been downloaded and applied from the manufacturer's web site.
If the latest drivers have been applied, it is possible that the network card or driver does not support multicasting/promiscuous mode(s).
Cause 4: Error 1810 can be reported if Drive Image cannot write an image to the network because the user profile used to logon to the network does not have permission to write to the destination subdirectory.
Fix 4: Log on to the network as the Administrator, or grant rights to the user profile to write to the desired subdirectory.
Cause 5: Error 1810 can be caused by having insufficient space for the image file on the destination drive.
Fix 5: Free up space on the destination drive, or choose a different compression level for creating the image.
