Couldn't sleep, tried new browser

Hi all, couldn't sleep, so I decided to try a new browser. Don't care for Mozilla, so I gave Opera a go.

I'd say its a vast improvement over previous versions. And from what I have seen, it loads sites quite quickly. I might use if for a while and see how I like it, but it looks ok so far. Migrating IE favorites was easy (that is one of my peeves with other browsers)

Give it a try, you might like it too.

I could do without that silly little banner on top tho. It doesn't even seem to be doing any advertising at all.

Give it a try, I am a hardcore IE user, IE is just so simple, and I am used to it. But hey never hurts to try stuff eh? =)

Features, from what I have seen, include
-pop up blocker build in
-spam filter build in
-what seems to me to be faster loading on websites
-nicer looking GUI, kinda mac-ish
-has a google toolbar thingie you can enable, without actually having to install it from google

CONS so far there is one
-the disability to have an icon or shortcut somewhere which will open the mail program separate, like how IE and outlook express is separate. But I think Opera is an all-in-one

Yes, and then there's tabbed browsing too. Once you get used to that, I guarantee you'll be frustrated with any browser that doesn't have it (namely IE, I think pretty much all the rest do...). Just think... you can open a dozen browser "windows," all in your browser. Still just one browser button on your taskbar.

all i have to say on opera is: tabbed browsing + mouse gestures = mmm mmm good

plus the fact that you can pause downloads, turn off the computer, and resume them later

GoldenBuddha:
File --> New Window
In the new window open M2 (the mail app)
You have 2 seperate windows... yes they'll both say Opera, but one will have a mail icon
(no this does not open it in a new tab, it will be a seperate window on your task bar.. its called a "Choice" which IE gives you none )

tmx:
Mouse Gestures is the nectar of the gods!!! Its SOOOOOOOOO much faster to browse without clicking the stinkin' back button all the time. Just hold your right mouse button and swing LEFT... OR even easier..
Hold right mouse button down, and click the left button for back.... and hold left mouse button and click the right to go forward.. EASY!
In Opera keyboard control is awesome, you can almost surf entire site with just the keyboard once you learn your way around

I'm getting used to the mail client, and I do like

The really nice thing about Opera is almost Everything is customizable! Skins, keyboard controls.. you can even re-create the mouse gestures if you want!

IE = Obsolete Crusty Junk

I'm still in love w/ Katiesoft. It's a 4 window extension of IE, that I'm lost without.

Things I have seen in Opera which are popular features:
1: tabbed browsing, already mentioned;
2: can relocate any toolbar bar to any other location (vs IE 5.5);
3: built in popup stopper (4 stage configuration);
4: mouse gestures - some love 'em, I hate 'em, ymmv;
5: saving a session and returning to that session; can also email the saved session file to other Opera users;
6: zooming in/out on a web page.

I registered, no more ads.
