CDRW Drive Opinions?

well my old generic burner is spitting out coasters left and right in nero lately... its time to replace the beast. im looking at these two burners, any bad experiences/opinions/concerns?

Asus CRW-5224A
52x24x52

Liteon LTR-52246S
52x24x52

and also if anyone has any experience in over-burning cds with these drives, most likely using nero.

thanks a bunch-

I have been using the Liteon LTR-52246S for a couple months now and have had no problems with it. I got it for $20 after mail in rebates at Best Buy. I also use Nero Burning Rom software and burn audio, data, vcd, and svcd cd-r's without any problems.

I have never used any ASUS cd burners, so I can't give you any comments on their brand.

I'd say there is an excellent possibility that the Asus is a rebadged Lite-On.

The Asus is not a rebadged Liteon but both are quality drives!

My theory is:

The faster they make 'em spin, the faster they wear out.

well its not just speed im concerned with, more like features, i can be patient. all i care about is not making coasters my current burner is a couple years old, and truthfully i dont even know what it is. well ive read some reviews, and im leaning towards the asus, plus a friend has one and loves it. already own asus mobo and videocard, no complaints there.

We have about six Liteon's in office for the past year. All of them are still going strong. From my experience with them I recommend the Liteon.
