fried pc...or not?

hey guys. my uncle just bought a new pc. he said his old one got fried by lightning. he said that the monitor speakers kb everything got fried. but he doesnt know a lot about hardware and he had it on a surge protector. i havent had a chance to look at it yet, but what are the chances that EVERYTHING actually got fried? and not just some vital part to allow it to not work?

drew

Lightening hit my cousins Dell. It took out the mobo and modem. The processor, power supply, fan, and drives were not damaged.

What I did was take out each component and test them in a known good system. I used an old 440bx system that I no longer use. I didn't know if the processor was OK until Dell sent him the new mobo.
