Kids winzip self-extracting

I had to sell my computer some years ago. Before I did I put all my files into a self-extracting winzip file on zip disks 7 of them. Now I didn't have a zip drivebut a friend of mine does and I tried to extract them, his iomega software was acting up so I burnt them onto a cd (each disk in a differant folder due to them all having the same name). now I am no where hear someone I know with a zip drive and I want to exctract the files on this paltry machine I peiced together out of spare parts, but it keeps telling me that that the disk in the drive appears to be missing or has a incorrect label. Insert disk 1.

my question is, for anyone who knows, is how do I put them all back together and or extract the the files either off my cd-rom and/or my hard drive (where they are saved for the moment)
Like I said it was everything I wanted to save from my computer, (739mb of zipped up file) all the stuff I collected over 4 years in the Army.

I NEED HELP!!

Thank you,
MadJestyr

Did you also use the ZIP drives compression features to further compress your already winzipped files?

Do you have winzip on your current system and have you tried using it to unzip the files since the self-extracting doesn't seem to be working.

You can also contact WinZip at this page: (http://winzip.com/xtech.htm) and describe to their tech support your problem. In the past I have found their people bend over backwards to help.
Good luck

Send a message via Yahoo to Brainchild
What did you use to split the file up? You will have to use that or something compatible to reassemble them, then unzip it.
drag all the parts to your HDD and try to extract them from there.

no I didn't compress it any further, and yes I tried using winzip to extract the files but it says they are not a valid archive, even though every one of the files has a .zip extension, thanks I will try the winzip people and see what they say, I have to admit I was ignorant to the point that I didn't even think that

Good point brainchild.
I think you can use a spanning feature in winzip that automatically makes a large winzip file fit onto many disks. If so you need to recombine all the spanned files.
If you created individual winzip files that were just large enough to fit on each zip disk it is another problem.

No I used the winzip self exctracter personal edition, when I told it to send the file to my zip drive with spanned support it spanned the file itself

Ok then you need to recombine the files into one B4 you can open the file.

You will find the directions in the help section of the version of WinZip you are now using. If you still have problems use the link I gave you to contact WinZip and be sure to explain that you DID span the file.
