Why is 2000 better than xp?

I have heard several members here say that 2000 is better than XP, but they have never really given specific reasons. I have 2000 that I bought from a friend and have never used it and I really like XP. I was just curious as to what their reasons were and if they were valid or not. Thanks for any opinions posted.

Its not better, IMO. XP Pro is the best MS OS ever.

Theres a gazillion threads on it

2000
NO STINKING WIZARDS!!! arghhh they kill me!
I don't feel like a 3 year old on a tricyle
MUCH Lighter on resources
MORE stable
Less BS services installed on default that only a handful of people will use (portable media serial number thingie.. wtf?!?)
When I go to control panel I want to go to the control panel! Not the pretty version that you gotta dig through to find the real stuff (yes I know you can change this, but it is still an annoyance)

XP has its perks... they're just few and far between IMO
Short on time, these are just on the top of my list

You mean XP Home Vass? I really do not notice all that many wizards in XP Pro compared to 2K Pro.

To change the control panel to look like 2K you only need to click on 1 thing.. once...and its right on the control panel window

Yeah, what Vass said. Plus I got tired of having to reformat every three or four months. I did that about 3 times, then XP went bye-bye and I put Win2K back.

XP = Bloatware, spyware, and crashware.

I hear ya Vass but lets face it most people do not have your skills or knowledge yet including myself. I am talking about your typical computer user and they are both made by the same company?

I've only used Pro
The stinking network wizard it KILLS ME
Their wireless setup is completely worthless it never works ... I have to disable it manually because it borks the Linksys wireless config utilities settings.

I can't remember anymore at the moment, I've repressed all the memories of using it
I do know that anytime I'm forced to use it my blood pressure goes through the roof

LOL! I had to laugh when I saw that. I was at the XP launch in Pittsburgh, and they couldn't get it to work there either... and this was in their main presentation. They did some fast talking, and gave up on it after a few minutes.

well I LOVE Windows 2000...
I DO happen to know what I'm doing though too.
Win XP home is good for people who don't really want to mess around with anything, they just want an OS that works good.
:edit: well, most things work in it.... MOST

Windows 2000 I think is for people who want a stable, smooth running OS that will allow them to do whatever they want with it without the wizards, bloatware, etc... It's basically just a Windows. That's it. It's stable and it works good. Nothing more. & that is what I like.
