Hidden and Dangerous black screen after mission briefing

I install it allright, then I install the 1.3 patch, the game starts fine and when the first mission briefing is done the screen just goes black and stays that way!!! When I move the mouse I can hear click sounds as if some mouse pointer is going over some menu options or something but I cant do anything! I have to Ctrl Alt Del to leave the game. I also tried different options for the game video setup with no success. Thanks in advance!
