I just built a Barton 2500+ with 512 pc2700 and MSI KT3V mobo using stock HS/fan. I am getting system idle temp 58 to 62 C according to Bios I have updated the Bios to the newest version. Any ideas other then replaceing the heat sink....System running at 1833

The best thing to do is get a better heatsink. I recommend the SLK-800 along with a Vantec Tornado. Works great on my Barton. 28 idle and 36 load.

What is your system temperature? You'll never have a cool CPU if your system gets hot. If it does..I'd look into either a better case, or better fans an cleaning the case a little for air circulation.

i like the vantec aeroflow . it is really quiet. replaceing the power supply alone with a dual fan , amd recomends dual fan power supply , will drop case temps alot . i would think if you tidy up the case like this it will help out alot . NOTE your system has sound card and extra hdd so you temps are gonna be alittle higher than lot of what people post here . but this system i posted , this pic is of when it was xp1700 overclocked, it is now a barton 2500 overclocked to 2034 and the zalman was replace with a aeroflow hsf combo but i left the zalman fan setup in it , is running with a closed case and the loaded temp is 41-43 depending on room temp .

Not horrible...but not great either...a better HSF would do great and would probably leave you between 45c and 50c

Heat Issue

System is not as clean as the pic you showed but have allot more cables to deal with...and the other thing that I don't like is the IDE ports are on the bottom of the mobo which will block some air flow from the front fan.... I quess that is my only option to get a better Hs/fan.. Thanks for all the input...

Not a good pic!!!
