Building system.... $800 bucks to blow.

Hey all

I've decided to build another system... i have around 800 bucks give or take to build a comp. I will need everything except monitor, mouse, keyboard...

i plan to order my stuff from newegg... i most likely will go amd (3000+ if it will fit my budget)...

i have been behind in technology and i want some recommendations for mobos, gfx cards, processors... etc...

thanks

eryk

mobo: nforce2, 400fsb perhaps?

grfx card: at least radeon 9500

case: nice lian li or chieftec/antec

hdd: at least 100gb or 2 80WD specials. Or you could go SATA.

snd card: audigy or santa cruz(dont have to, the nforce boards have 5.1 sound onboard.)

Of course you will want a CD-RW and a DVD-RW. Notice its "-" on the DVD, not "+"

will i fit all that around 800 bucks??

also is this new nforce2 stuff any good? or should i stick with the KT400 chipset?

I will probably get 1 stick of corsair ram... 1 gig should be enough.

I will also need a good powersupply.. not the cheap ones that come with some cases... any reccomendations?

thanks alot

Yes it will all fit around your budget.

Yes, the nforce is the best AMD chipset. If you go for via, get the kt400a.

Corsair is good memory. If you get an nforce mobo, get 2 512mb sticks to use the nforces double DDR ability.

Powersupply, get like an antec or something. If it costs more than 50, its gonna be higher quality.

shoot for 800, you could accommodate any preference. (unless of course you want the latest and greatest overpriced processor)

Really, if you build any system to gaming specs, you'll be happier in the long run.

Barton 3000+ $259
Asus A7N8X Deluxe or Epox 8RDA+ $127/$85
Nice case with 400 or 500W brand name PSU
512 PC3200 Corsair XMS RAM $112
Western Digital Special Edition 80 or 120GB w/ 8MB cache $81/$107
48x lite-on / msi CD-RW ~$50
Geforce 4 ti4200 or Radeon 9500 Pro ~$130/~
DVD-Rom ~$30

Guess thats going to go over 800 (just now added it). You can prolly get cheaper ram or possibly a diff processor to counter it
