Poll: How much have you spent on your Soundcard?
So how much money have you put down into your soundcard and what do you use it for?
Mine is an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 and I mostly use it for recording and producing music, but it works great for everyday use in games etc...

Integrated C-Media 6ch chipset, 0€.
Serves it's purpose more than good.
Before that ~50€, and before that, ~50€. Never more.

Stupid 2 channel 16 bit Philips PCI soundcard cost me $40 - criminal! It was the cheapest card on the shelves when I went to 3 different retailers, too. ARRRRRGH! Just so I can hear the PC make its alert noises, too. I just do not have the budget for the better cards, I guess, but when a $10 soundcard costs me $40, no wonder I can't afford the >$100 cards.

Use to be a strictly Creative fan, til they started trying to mess around and install all sorta weird software that I didn't really care for.
Then I got the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, have nothing but praise for that card, sounds great, works like a charm, and doesn't install silly apps that you don't really care about.

What happens when it is onboard? I got an nForce2 board, and am more than happily using the SPDIF output...

| Onboard means it uses your cpu to handle the audio chores. Bench's show this can cause some drops in performance(not much, in games only 3-5fps).

Santa Cruz...exact price = free, gave a friend of mine a Live Value and he gave me this awesome card. He was giving the pc to charity so I asked him if i could get the soundcard if I provided some kind of replacement.
