New DELL CDRW INOP?

Dell Dimension 2350 P4 2.2 w/XP

Samsung 40X CD-R/RW Model SW-240B (came installed by DELL)

Using Roxio Easy CD 5

I got my new desktop about a month ago, and I haven't had any problems until today. I've burned a few audio CD's for my car, but recently backed up ALOT of files that I don't use. I burned about 50 CD's nonstop on Friday, with no problems. Today I tried to burn one CD, and I get this error message:

"The disc in the recorder is not the proper media for this project.
Insert a blank CD or a CD with enough free space to record the project."

I closed the program and tried again, that didn't help. I tried TDK, Sony, KHypermedia, and Imation CDR's, NONE of them are recognized. The CDRW just flashes and thinks about 3 times, then stops. Is it possible the 50 CD marathon last week damaged the burner? I don't want to have to ship it back to DELL, but I can't think of a thing to do.

Help!

It may be hosed. Have you tried to reboot? Did you go into Device Manager to see if there's a problem there? Will it read CD's ok?

Contact Dell, they may be willing to send you another drive if you don't want to send the unit back. I'ts been years since we did warranty work for Compaq but does Dell not have onsite warranty work for a year?
