question about virus

might be a dumb question but im trying to keep my main rig as safe as possible from viri and other things that might compromise its stability.
basically i have two rigs, one for everyday surfing, downloading stuff from imesh, and a second one mainly for gaming.

i was just wondering if a burned cd with mp3's and movies from imesh (from the everyday rig) might transfer over viruses and spyware etc to the gaming rig via cd??
thanks,
franklinz

if your burned cd contains a virus then it could be copied to another machine

if you are in doubt scan the cd with a reputable and up to date antivirus program before moving any files to another machine

If its just MP3 files, you're safe. its files like .exe, .vbs, .bat, .cmd, .scr or any that contain executable code that hold a threat.
It would be a really good idea to have av software on both the machines anyway though.
Especially as there are quality free ones now such as avg (www.grisoft.com)

Answer to your question is : Possible. You can never be sure. So use AVG like nukes suggests. Free and best. I've been using it for years.

Low on system resources, better interface than Norton, as good at detection as Norton, and a great price.

Yup. AVG can't be beat. Best thing to do is scan 'em before you burn 'em.
