Kids ZoneAlarm and running a ftp server

I am currently trying to run an ftp server on my computer using CesarFTP .099g. When ZoneAlarm and the XP Pro firewalls are deactivated, friends are able to log onto my server. However, while ZoneAlarm only is loaded, my server is inaccessable to the outside world. I gave the program permission to act as a trusted/internet acceptance as well as trusted/internet server the OK. The problem still exists. I am unaware if it is possible to simply open up the proper port, and I would rather not completely deactivate the firewall. Any suggestions?

If you want to customize specific ports by blocking and un-blocking them, then you will have to upgrade to ZoneAlarm Pro.

Otherwise, it sounds to me like you can accomplish what you are wanting to do by changing the Security Levels within ZoneAlarm.

Check out the help file for ZoneAlarm and do a search of the index for "security levels". It should explain it all for you and show you how to set it.
