p4 2.4c w/ p4c800 deluxe overlocking help!

i need help. *and i don't mean rehab.

spec:
p4 2.4c 800mhz Corsiar hydrocool water cooling system
p4c800-deluxe newest bios from asus.com
2x 512 kingston hyperX KHX3200/512
radeon 9500 none pro softmod to radeon 9700 pro
2x 60gig maxtor 72k rpm 2mb and ata133 STRIP0
2x cd rom
onboard sound
onboard network card
floppy drive

my problem is when i overclock manually my system won't even boot to bios but if i overclock using the 5% 10%.... tool then it works. i've tried to set manually fsb to 210 but it won't boot at all, however when i use 20% overclocking tool then it boots up and is stable under windows xp.

if i overclock using the 20% then i can't choose to make my hyperx to run at 400mhz like it suppose to be but setting it manually won't even give me a boot to bios. What should I do?

i'm kinda guessing it's hardware problem and most likely from the motherboard. But anyone have suggestions or solutions please help!!!!

are you trying to change the multiplier ?

i think the multiplier is locked. i was only trying to change the fsb.

Did you lock also the AGP\PCI. A friend of mine was having this problem then he locked the AGP\PCI and it worked.
Don`t ask me why but it did.

i set it on auto but i've also tried numerous times using 66.33/33.33 or higher like 80/40. none of them worked. and the weirdest thing now is that i can't even overclock using the AI overclock tuner anymore. i used to be able to overclock using that.

Remember the new P4C runs on an effective 800mhz FSB---
this is going to push most current mem to its limits at default settings and place great demands on that memory in an attempt to overclock it---
Make sure your memory is of the highest quality you can obtain and dont hesitate to raise the voltage to that memory, try upping it and see if it stabilizes...

I'm with KingofPain on this. Voltage bump up for the memory and CPU may be what is required here to get it to OC.

So far, i got it pushed up to 3.0ghz with 1.6 vcore and 2.55 ram voltage. I am pretty sure i can push it up higher however, what is a good vcore to stop at? cause i read an article that said 20% increase in vcore is ok but anywhere beyond that would be harmful to the CPU.

Vdimm needs to be raised (not Vcore)---from what ive heard there isnt much need to raise the vcore on the "C's" although a combo of both could be needed for maximum stability---keep playin with it and ALWAYS monitor your temps...

Caught your edit---600 mhz OC aint too bad eh?

Edit---> Vdimm can mostlikely be raised to 2.7 without issue---run it for awhile and enjoy saving 250$ (over the 3.0 cost) on your chip choice...

I've run into another dilema now. Here is the deal.

recently i purchased a vantec aeroflow for my 2.4C. Now my temperature is nice n cool. 28C idle and 47C at full continuous gaming. So now i thought, i can get more than just 3.0 after OCing. so i tried at 3.2 but no luck. System boots up and windows loads fine and operates great however, when i play games it reboots itself. I tried uping the vcore and vdimm but problem still occurs. I am guessing PC3200 can't run that fast so perhaps PC3500 will do the trick?
