48C for 1700+ good?
I just bought an AMD XP 1700+ system from vicarious george and its been running wonderfully. My only question is: when I run ECC2 for any long amount of time, my temp is about 43C, solid. When I play a game along with ECC2, it goes up to about 47C, and doesn't come back to 43C. It has now increased to 48C with just ECC2 running. Should I be concerned? The computer has been on for just about 2.5days. Case temp currently is 34C, and it was at 32C before. Should I be thinking about some Artic Silver and a Tt cooler?
ECS K7S5A Mobo
AMD XP 1700+ w/ stock cooler
512MB DDR PC2100
Gainward GF3 Ti200 (200/450)
WD 40GB HD

You might be thinking of that. On my computer it does the same thing, when i run high cpu processes it gets to about 42-43C and stays there until i let it set to cool off, or raise fan speed for a while. But your cpu is pretty hot, are you overclocking it at all?

Running a K7S5A, you shouldn't have to worry at all about overclocking (it's sort of a non-issue), so I would say that 48C is a fine temperature, well within the stability envelope. No need to waste money on an overclockers paste and heatsink when you can't overclock
EDIT: edited to fix temp typo
