Just a suggestion, you might want to try creating a DOS boot disk, boot from that, then format from DOS. Just copy the FORMAT.EXE to the floppy disk before you reboot.

Good luck!

"format c:" (no "s)
the "\" is whats messing it up

Have you tried using the XP Pro cd and booting and formatting from that?

Boot to the WinXP cd and you should be given options to format..you don't have to use commands with Windows NT/2000/XP

oh, i was under the impression that booting from thexp pro disc is not a clean install. but you guys know, thats why i posted here. i tried that and it said to close the anti virus software, idisabled it but message came up again. i will uninstall norton then boot from xp disc. thanks by the way, i tried the format c:and that didn't work either I will post on the results

Letting Windows autorun the XP CD is what results in a non-clean format...this is because before Windows reboots your system, it puts system files on your drive...so it can't format it...so then it just overwrites everything it needs to, and leaves everything else.

I deleted the norton and then going thru setup it does not ask to reformat, asked for the raid floppy, did that, it rebooted and now i get this error "stop0x0000007b and more it thinks hard drives corrupt or virus, I think I am screwed
