Creative 4.1 speaker cables

My son bought a set of Creative 4.1 speakers at a garage sale and they sound great ...almost...one of the cables TO the sound card for the rear speakers is missing. Where/what /how do I get him one?

hmm...I'm not extremely familiar with surround sound cables...but...have you checked your local Radioshack? I'm sure if anyone, they'd have them.

You mean there's physically no rear jack to put into the sound card? There should be two plugs leading from the control console, on for the rears and one for the fronts. You're telling us that this rear plug ISN'T there? Your set may be defective (might have wrong control pad).

On the back of the woofer are all the plugs for the 4 speakers. Also there are 2 jacks that go to the card. Marked front and rear. We only have 1 of those cables.. I have tried 2 card to speaker cables I already have to no avail. Must be a particular jack end.

Does it look the same on both ends? For all the speakers I've ever seen, its a standard 1/8 Inch male-to-male plug from the amplifier in the sub to the computer for each of the pairs of channels. You expressed that you tried a plug that fit to no avail though. When you tried one of the "card to speaker" cables, did you get no sound out of the rears, or just out of one? If its out of just one, you have a mono 1/8" plug when you need a stereo, since its two channels, left and right.

Another possibility is that you arent plugging into the rear output in the soundcard. You need a sound card that supports at least 4.1 sound for these speakers. You didn't mention what sound card your using, so I thought I'd bring this up.

The front should go into the green plug, and the rear should go into the black plug in the sound card. If it only has, say, green, blue and red plugs, then your sound card most likely does not support 4.1 sound. If it does support 4.1, make sure your sound cards drivers or software has 4 speaker mode enabled.

The card has the green and black holes for the 4.1 set up. I think I need a different cable because as you say I get sound out of the front OR the back but not all. Might be a radio shack trip I guess but the one by me is not usually helpful. One of those places where I usually am smarter about what I need than them!
