Processor/mobo compatibility

I've got an XP 2000+ processor in a Gibabyte GA-7VRX motherboard. I've been having some problems with my processor, and I've been thinking about replacing it.

Since the XP 2400+ is only about $30 more expensive than the 2000+, I thought that might be a good buy. But does anyone know whether the 2400 will be compatible with the same mobo/BIOS?

Thanks.

It will be...those boards will all have BIOS updates to add compatability if it's not, unless it uses a different FSB (which the 2400+ doens't).
Check the manufacturer's website to be sure your BIOS supports the cpu.

I doubt that the problems you're having actually come from the processor itself. You need to assert what's actually wrong with it (cooling, power, RAM), and then fix that.

Peter, the reason why I'm suspecting that my processor is messed up is that I've been running my PC at too-high temperatures for about the last five months, so I think the processor has been really overworked. My plan is to add another fan to the case, replace the cpu fan, and get a new cpu. That way everything should be in good shape.
