Headphone jack on the CD drive

How do i get that jack to actually work? Right now i have a cable running from a little slot on the motherboard to the back of the CD drive where it says "ANALOG AUDIO" yet having headphones plugged in gives no sound.

Is there something special i have to do?

sry dont know never used the plug infront of my CD rom but Ill try it tonight....

Dumb question but i've got to ask, did you turn the volume up?

EDIT; BTW, the cable that runs from the back of the CD / CD-RW to the mobo is for your on-board sound.

Ok, this is just a guess, but try

device manager --> the cd-rom player concerned --> properties

and uncheck 'enable digital cd audio from this device'

None of those worked. It's not a big deal though. I'm only asking because my headphones are those crappy short-cord walkman headphones. I really have to get around to buying real headphones.
