Why doesn't Opera 7.11 display web pages the way they should appear?
I just installed Opera 7.11 about 3 days ago. The reason I installed it is that my IE6 took a crap and wouldn't let me see high encryption pages (shows 0-bit cipher)
So far, I think it's ok. Image loading is slower than IE6 on my broadband connection. I downloaded an IE6 skin to make it look like "home".
Anyway, the problem is.... Opera doesn't show MOST web pages the way they are supposed to be seen (ie... the way i see them using IE) . For example.... eBay. Opera doesn't show all the colors, links, etc and the page layout also looks wierd. My zoom is set to 100%.
Most webpages are written by Microsoft tools, written to Microsoft standards (not necessarily internet standards posed by W3C). Microsoft has had a long standing record of disliking any browser which is not IE. Recently MSN would send Opera defective code, but would send IE browsers good code. Welcome to the real world!
It's true...Mozilla (that's what Opera/Netscape are) display pages EXACTLY HOW THEY ARE CODED...Internet Explorer assumes a lot, and often web designers take shortcuts and code for internet explorer...which is poor web design.
If a website works in Mozilla, you know it was coded correctly...regardless of whether it works in IE or not.
