Get into the bios. Maybe you have the agp set to 1x or 2x. In this setting the 9700 pro somehow locks up. Set it to 4x but not 8x since based on tests in Maximum PC 4x actually scores better in benchmarks than 8x.

Don't despair, ATiFX. People on this board have solved many problems for me. I bet someone will think of something.

When I had a problem with my GFti4200 locking up for no reason, people reckomended going into the BIOS and raising the vcore voltage level 5%, and that solved the problem completely. I don't know if that would help you though. It makes the processor run a little hotter, but if you have good fans it probably wouldn't be a problem. The vcore voltage can be raised by 5%, 7.5%, or 10%.

Um, but this is coming from someone who knows very little. I just follow other people's suggestions. So don't do this unless someone else agrees that it might help.

does it always lock up or does it sometimes just restart. If your comp restart and you have windows xp it will state the reason why it had to restart. Also maybe its a heat problem.

it just locks up, i just reinstalled my whole windows, formated HD and again!!!! same PROBLEM, i think its the V problem, heat cant be since i have a fan a size of my head infront of comp blowing directly inside of it, the side of the comp is off, so it cant be it, its the voltage, how can i increase flow of v, by like 5 or so, it must be it, i just checked BIOS and there is no option, can someone give me a ling to download the software thats gona let me do that, thnxx...

You don't need software to change the voltage. There should be an option.

There should be a ton of different menues in the BIOS. If you open them one by one, you should see something that says "vcore" in one of them.

This must be so frustrating, getting a new video card, and having it not work. I know so little about PC harware though, so I can't help very much.
