WinTV installation issues in XP

Hey Folks,

I resently clean installed XP on my main box. For some reason my WinTV card from Hauppauge will not install. As far as i can remember all i have done before is to install the wdm drivers from the website. Now XP does not recognise these as drivers for the card.

I can install the older win2k vdx (cant remember at the moment) but these are not as good as the wdm drivers.

Any one else with this problem.
ESC K75sa 3.1
XP2000+
SBlive 5.1 player
ATI 9500 128 pro
on board lan

thanks,

g

This happened to me recently when I upgraded from XP Home to Pro. After installing the drivers and rebooting, I opened up the 2 "?" multimedia controllers in the device manager and clicked the Reinstall Driver button > Automatically Install. This picked the drivers up and installed them.

Might be best to run hcwclear.exe before installing them as you've installed some other drivers (should be in your Program Files\WinTV folder).

The first time I had this, thinking something had gone wrong I used hcwclear and tried again, which also worked.

when i did a reinstall, i had to use the original drivers from the cd to install. then update them.. That was the only way i could get mine to work.

finally figured it out. Do not use the whql versions of the recent drivers they do not seem to want to install. I downloaded the non whql drivers and they installed fine. No need for drivers from the original disk at all. Strange that the microsoft certified version of the driver will not install.

The quirkyness I had was with non-WHQL drivers (WinTV Theater). Guess I'll stick with them though.
