Bad laptop i bought on ebay ...

i bought a presario 2710us laptop on ebay and it wont turn on . my fault that i bought an item like , i took a risk ... well it doesnt power up or make a peep ... somone in cali wants me to send it ot their store to get fixed for $149 ... what kind of prices should i expect to fix this ??

also if i figure out the problem , why coudlnt i just fix it myself ....somone said on a forum that its the battery and they explain that it doesnt cost much to buy another rca battery .. im guessing they are talking about the battery found on the main board and not the bigger battery ..... what do you guys think i should do ...

Its simple, get your money back from the seller. If not get your credit card company to do a chargeback. Of course if its discovered that you were the one who actually broke it, it won't be too good for you.

I'm guessing you have no warranty from the seller?? and he nade no warranty that it will work? For a store to say its going to be !149 isn't right cause they don't know what it will cost unless they have looked at it. There are any number of reason a laptop won't power on but I'm not a good one for advice on that. IMO I'd try to find the problem and maybe fix it myself. As for what to do with the seller if he made no warranty then you have to mark it up as a learning experience if he warrantied it the try to make him take it back

Legally I believe you are protected against DOA if the seller stated it was in good working order.

Well Did it say Sold as is on Ebay mostly alot of ebay sellers post that. If the seller says its Guaranteed to work contact the seller and get your moneyback. Always look at details before bidding for such items especially on electronics. You can also dispute it with ebay as it states in the ebay policy if such item are guaranteed functionality then they should go by that rule. Do you have that link for the winnings?

Yeah If it is Sold As is, means you are SOL. It was sold non-working.

it was sold as untested ... its my fault , i had a bad feeling but i was in a rush to get alaptop and 60 other people were fighting for it , i didnt think it would be dead ... the sellers seem nice but i dont think its going to be easy to get my money back .. i sent the money by money order , right now the seller is finding the owner of the laptop and seeing why it was taken back to the company to be replaced .. the seller said the eomplyees of the company get credited with these laptops somehow and sometimes they send them back when they want to get a newer model . i took and a risk and lost . im going to best buy this weekend to get it checked out , i hope the damage to it isnt so bad that i would have to pay a fortune for it ...
