7200 or 5400??

If I want to save money, need around a 30-60GB drive, and am not TOTALLY but somewhat concerned about speed, which is better to get for the price, a 7200RPM drive or a 5400RPM drive?

Thanks!

you're only talking about a $10 hit for the 7200 rpm jump. it's really just better... you get better performance all areound, so you're best off with 7200... although 5400 will do if you're not doing anything crazy like content creation or hardcore gaming.

For your maind rive, ALWAYS 7200RPM!!!

5400rpm makes your computer SO MUCH SLOWER.. Trust me.....

For storage, you may want space over speed, so there isn't much difference there, but if the difference is only $10 you migh as well get the fastest!!

space is important, but it's not worth it without speed. i'd rather have a 30 gig ata100 7200 rpm drive than a 100 gig ata66 5400 or something.

you can get a 30 gig ata/100 7200 rpm drive for around 130 bucks or less if you shop right. definately invest in the speed, you'll be thankful later.

also, if you dont' have ata/100 support on your mobo, spring for the ata/100 card. it also helps. trust me. i know.
