Barton OCing Help.

As some of you have read I was able to OC my barton 2500+ to xp3000+ speeds with my stock HS/F well Im trying to break that personal best by using two 80mm fans on top of the stock HS/F and trying to get my FSB to 200mhz.

The problem. At +10% on my vcore my FSB at 190mhz and my multiplyer set to 11 to start out with every thing runs perfect I can run benchmarks and play games, temps range from 45-50 (a bit high but still ok) So I can reach 2800+ with just the FSB fine.

Now when I push the FSB any higher I get a config error. Temps are fine but windows 98 wont boot. (I havent tried 2k3 because 98 is the pickier of the two)

Is this the limit of my chip? Do I just need lower temps before I start to OC again? Is my DDR333 (PC2700) Kingston Value ram holding it back? Could it be my mobo. This one isnt known for very great overclocking (GA-7VAXP).

Any input form OCers would be nice.

It either the limit of your ram or possibly the limit of your chipset voltage (vdd.).

Most people when they try to overclock that much end up having to make Voltage Mods on their boards, so they go above 1.85v on the Vcore...I do not recomend doing this, but it may be the only thing that can get you higher.

Raising the ram voltage is highly recommended. I do for stability. Just keep the air flowing through that case. Anytime you start raising v. you are creating heat.

Ok I pushed up the agp and ram voltage to +3% and was able to post and boot into windows 2k3 with 200mhz fsb and I ran some tests and did a few thing (I wasnt able to play any games because I dont have directx enabled) and when I rebooted just to make sure everything was fine it wouldnt post. I let it sit to cool if it needed and watched the end of some tv show, when I returned it would post but not boot into an OS. After playing with it a while longer and messing with settings I gave up and droped back down to normal everything. But I do have a snapshot of a 200mhz FSB.

You don't have to go back to default because it failed at 200fsb. Hell, I can't run stable at 200 playing games, so I back it off to 194. It's called, "Finding the sweet spot." You gotta do the same to find the fsb limits and the cpu limit.

This could help keep your computer more stable if you up those voltages again....
