need help with server

where i work they have a network with a dc(w2000) and a nt 4.0 as bdc, now they are getting a new server with w2000 to be the new bdc and they are going to update the nt 4.0 to w2000 and make it a member server.

what i know is that update the nt to w2000 will go fine.
but what i would like is a detail way on how to get the date from the old dc to the new one? do i have to do anything or will it happen automaic. do i need to change anything in the ad?

You don't provide much info such as applictions and role for bdc. You may want to simply upgrade the NT4 to W2k then mirror to new system. How you migrate will depend on the role of the BDC.
running Certificate Services? DHCP/DNS controller? Routing and Remote Access? 1). do your research 2). Plan your migration carefully 3). To help you may want to use "Microsoft Press- Migrating from 4.0 to W2k 70-222.

Well the nt 4.0 to w2000 is not a problem. i can just update it.

but the new dc that they are going to add. how to get the info thats in the old one to the new one, so if the old one get a problem the new will take over, so the network want go down
