Kids motherboard compatability

hey all got a fast question if ya can help.
i am running a p2 350 packard bell i have 1 64mb stick or sdram and 1 128 stick of sdram.there is a chipset onboard for video and sound.now what i am asking is i have had a p3 processer given to me and need to know if my motherboard will handle it the board i hope i have identified with sisoft sandra as a CAN PLT 7800c SE440BX-2. thanx in advance if ya can help i hope this is the right info you need to help ty

If I remeber the right the very first Pentium 3s were slot 1. That's what your Pentium 2 uses...so if it's not a slot 1 (it's probably a socket 370) then it won't work....

A 440BX will handle a PIII if it's slot 1 like Telexen said. You'll have to figure out the manufacturer of the board to find out how fast it will go. What's the speed of the PIII? Also if it's an early socket 370 chip you can get a slocket adapter. They are getting fairly rare but you can still find them. I've got one stored in my file cabinet but it's for a coppermine only.
