burn video file to play on dvd

Hello. Was wondering can i copy a video file I have on my PC and play it on my DVD player or maybe even my PS2. The file is an .avi file that plays on Real One Player. I have a cd r/w. Would I have to convert the file into maybe a different format. One of my DVD players is capable of playing MP3's, VCD's and super VCD's.

With your burning software, select to burn it as a VCD. I don't believe it will play on a PS2...but it will on your DVD player.

I have NERO. Would I just burn it as a VCD. Do I have to encode the file to MPEG-1?

It should encode it for you automatically before it burns.

Simply select VCD, add the file you want on it...and burn...Nero will do the rest

you can use nero and it will do everything for you. It may take a few hours to encode the file though.

It will work but the problem is now the file is 671MB. But after I choose all the options in NERO to burn it as a VCD it tells me its file size is 830 MB. Why did the file get that much bigger. Regular cd r/w's only hold 700 MB data. Would I be able to burn it on two disc's with no problem. Or is that not possible with NERO.

if you are using nero to convert it then it will work.
