DVD Burner, Dual Format or Not?

Ok. I want a DVD Burner. I found out about the 2 formats. I have an Xbox and want to be able to play the DVD movies on my comptuer on the xbox. I heard it will read DVD+r/rw discs. It does not read my CD-r dsic.

I can get a TDk 4x DVD+R/rw burner for $188. I would then convert it to extrenal for another $50...this one is single format.

I can also get a dual format for $240 plus another $50 to make it external.

What are you thoughts?

Thanks
RC

i personally like the dual format just because you can take advantage of cheap media reguardless of which type it is, and you won't have to worry about one format being discontinued in the future when one is decided upon to be a standard(if that ever happens).

media and ripping

I read that the xbox read dvd+r/rw discs. This means I can only burn onto +r/rw discs? Also means that only a +r/rw burner will work? However, there are other dvd players ot there that read -r/-rw?

Also, generaly speaking how easy it to burn a DVD from my very own purchased collection onto another DVD?

Thanks
RC

I've purchased the Sony DRU-500A. It burns pretty good. I usually burn both DVD-R and DVD+R on it.
