What type of memory is it? How much did you have before? How much did you add? What type of motherboard do you have?

Here is a MS KB article that deals with this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;217392&

At POST when you first boot up there is usually a memroy check. Does the memory check count through the amount of RAM on your system.

Did you keep the 56Mb and add 128Mb or remove the 56Mb and add the 128Mb?

Try removing the 56Mb module (Are you sure its 56Mb and not 64Mb?) and leave the 128Mb module in. Different memories are not always compatible.

Then apparently your system "sees" the memory.

Usually in the device manager (at least I've never seen) a listing for memory as a device. Are you sure you posted that correctly? Also did you view the link for the MS KB article in my first post above? Are you sure this resource conflict was not there before you upgraded your memory?

No, your card has to be in the right way. Your system sees the memory. Are you using win98? If so try this:

Open a DOS window
Type "mem" without the quotes.

You should get the results back on your system memory.

Does everything seem to work normally on your PC? I've had systems with device errors that I could never quite figure out how to fix, and it never made a difference. If things are working OK you may be able to leave it alone. If not I think that MS article may fix your problem.
