windows xp wireless issue

hey all.. wondering if anyone can help me w/ a small problem.. i have a wireless setup.. cisco access point and a d-link pci card... i had this setup working fine on win2k.. i recently put on xp.... i can get the wireless working,, but everytime i reboot, it doesn't pick up the wireless connection.. i have to go disable the wireless network, then enable it and it picks it up right away, full strength and i have no problems til the next time i reboot.. anyone know if i am missing a setting or something? Thanks a lot!

I have seen the happen if the AP isnt broadcasting the SSID. I didnt find a workaround, and just turned the broadcast back on.

I've had that problem too...

I just reset the SSID on the AP and that fixes the prob.

XP Sucks for wireless royally!! I HATE their stupid automatic setup for wireless its worthless!!!

I have a linksys card, and I REFUSE to use their stinking wizards... On the wireless config I HAVE to shut off XP's automatic wireless setup or it won't pick up the right AP or it won't pick it up at all. I use the config utility that comes with my linksys card... If you just used XP's drivers you wont' get that so you'll have to check DLink's cd it should have some sort of configuration utility so try to use that instead...
If you're already using it, not sure :/

yeah i am using d-links utility, i disabled xp's.. you see the little yellow bars on the task bar,, that is d-links... it's green when it's picking up the signal and connected to the AP...

Have you tried updating the drivers for the card?
Maybe they have a firmware update as well.

Also check for firmware updates for the cisco AP

Hi have had similar probs, if you have a firewall or Nortons Internet security turn it Off while setting it up and re run the network(within nortons) this adds the new device as Safe.

Good Luck
