Outdoors I feel stupid.

I had a problem I found with my soundcard (or so I thought). When I tested my headphones, I found the reason I had been sucking so bad at FPSs. The sound was revered. So what shoudl have been coming out of the left cup came out the right and visa-versa. So instead of coming here and saving me time and embarassment, I e-mailed Creative Tech Support, asking how to reverse the sound on my sound card (an SB Live! XGamer). I got a repsonse just 2 hours later, telling me to try different devices and to try the headphones in a different device. I plugged my stereo into the computer, and it worked properly. Ha..... So what happened? The cups on the headphones were reversed, and could be removed. Boy, do I feel stupid...

At least we know Creative has fast response times on e-mail tech support.

Ok OK at least we know you know an "L" from an "R"

I've had a few "DUH" experiances myself

Hmm.............Maybe we should start a "my most embarrassing tech moments"

or something like that

monitor won't come on, reseat vid card, plug in different monitor everything works fine, change again no picture?
once more no picture, run diagnostics with working monitor, all is well
switch again, no pitcure........2 days pass and girlfriend ( who's the homer simpson of tech ) asks "did you plug it in?"

I've had that happen...it's just a little more complicated (there are approximately 1,392,582,389.82 controls I can fiddle with to "fix" the problem )

I had a vid card die on me, and replaced it. Had to move the monitor as well for some reason. Still no picture on the monitor after reolacing with known good vid card, though the monitor power light was one.

OH no! I thought. Monitor is dead!

Put another monitor on and was fine.

Was about to take monitor and swap it for a new one, when I felt a rolling switch as I lifted it, and realised the brightness control had as rolling switch right where I lifted it to move it (all the other controls are digital from a on-screen control). So I plugged it in again, rolled the switch, and sure enough had a picture!

That was my latest (but by no means only ) DUH! moment.

I feel your pain, red.

Cheers
Mick

LMAO!!! One of your finer moments, no doubt. BTW, Here's my recent "DUH!" moment:

I just set up my new Klipsch promedia 4.1 system and adrenaline had basically taken over my body at this point. I call my mom to my room and flip on Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing" to demonstrate the bass and clarity in the mids and highs. I hadn't even turned them on yet. So, I fired them up and pressed play...NOTHING!! NOOOOO!!! I almost screamed. I checked all of my volume levels and checked the connections in the back and then slapped on my headphones--wait--DUH! my headphones were connected to the front, so the speakers were turned off!! I fired them up for real and my mom was impressed. Definitely worth the look on her face.
