The PS fan (the case fan) should blow in. It sucking in hopefully cooler air from outside to keep the PS cool. The CPU fan does blow towards the CPU.

Ummm no. The power supply fan (at the rear of the case) is an exhaust fan. CPU fans blow down onto the heatsink.

The easy way to look at it, is to suck in cold air from the the front of the case, and blow the hot air out of the back of the case.

If you have a side panel fan, that should also suck in cold air to blow against the cpu fan which will blow onto the cpu.

Adding and rephrasing what other people said, the fans in the front (ie, drive coolers) blow in, the side-panel fans facing your PCI and video cards should blow in, the power supply out, the fan on the back side of the case out, and blowholes on the top as exhaust.

It's important to maintain a nice, unobstructed jet stream thruought your case, and to have your fans all of the same type and speed so as not to have more air blowing out than in (creating a vacuum) or in than out (making it hotter and innefective).

Talk hey guys back for more

i have three fans spinning, the temp is all controlled so i am not much bothered...........

one is the cpu fan, and it is correctly installed and it is blowing towards the cpu.

second fan is the one in the power supply unit, it is blowing out as an exhaust.

third fan is the case fan on the box at the behind below the power supplu unit, it is sucking in air,

and so i am guessing everything is inatalled correctly and everything is fine, thanks for all the feedback, if i am wrong in anything please correct me.

Thanks to all of ya

Hmmmm...same principle as having the cpu fan blowing down on top of the heatsink. For some reason that never occured to me...will have to change the side panel fan when I get home then!

newnovice, no, all rear fans should blow out. This is to preserve an airflow from the bottom front to the upper rear (in a tower case), such that there is airflow across the mainboard, the cards and more importantly the disk drives too.

So if you're adding a case fan to aid the one in the power supply, you better install an intake fan in the bottom front first. A second rear exhaust is a candidate position for your 3rd case fan.
