Win2k Shutdown annoyance
everytime i shutdown win2k, it displays first a window saying that explorer.exe is not responding...blah,blah,blah. i have to click on the 'end now' button to make it shutdown fast. how can i get rid of this? this problem just started to occur recently after some windows update.
thanks.

What was the windows update you installed? Perhaps it messed up something...
Maybe you could try re-installing that update again...
Other than that, maybe try closing all other programs in you systray before shutting down, perhaps one of them is causing explorer to hang on shutting down...

This issue arised a few times on this board.
Beemer brought us the solution :
In the registry navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop directory , then alter the key AutoEndTasks to the value 1.
Note: the key 'AutoEndTasks' might not exist. If not, simply create it with a value of 1. To disable the AutoEndTask feature, simply change the value back to 0.

@jayman, my very big problem is the connection speed. i think downloading and installing SP3 would take a lifetime. it's an online upgrade right? but i do hope to upgrade soon.
guys,
i tried beemer's registry tweak and it seems to work. no more window popups. i also removed some apps running in the systray. thanks.
