File transfer...

Im looking for a way to transfer files simply and securely between two people. Not through uploading to an ftp server or server of some other type and that isnt like icq or msn file transfer because they kinda suck. But something that works for files as large as 150mb.

Im working for this guy editing some images that are 8000X8000 and he needs them in BMP format and I dont have any way to get them to him with out hand delevering CDs to him.

Any ideas?

AFAIK, since you don't want FTP or IM, then burn onto a cd and snail mail it.

You have to have some type of "server" to host the files.

Setup your own Web server and use security on the page with those files.

Easiest/best way is probably FTP server though.

Something like Remote Administrator will do...

www.radmin.com

Besides controlling a computer remotely, u also have the option to transfer files over the internet (tcp).

Well my adsl router blocks me from having servers of any type. Luckily even trojan based servers. I was doing a little searching lastnight and read a little about waste by null-soft would that be something that might work?

Many routers, if not most, allow you to open incoming ports so your computer can offer services to computers on the Internet.

Alternately, perhaps you could have the recipient host an FTP server so you can upload to it.

Having him set up an FTP server wouldnt work. This guy is computer ileterate. And I dont know the password to get into our router to change that info.

BMPs compress pretty well. Compress one of these images with RAR or LHZ (LHA or CAB) compression and see how small you can get it.
