Any Around $1k 2.0+Ghz lappy's out there?

Well after alot of pain and crap I've settled with the dorko that rear-ended me a few months back. I've managed to get some money out of it and Im debating on whether to spend the money on go fast goodies for my truck or on a laptop. The laptop will definitely be useful for my classes that I'll be takin soon (upper division and stuff). So Im looking for a pretty good laptop. If Im gonna get something I want it to be nice The main focus is a decent quality screen (15"), a 2.0Ghz or higher processor and a decent amount of ram. The graphics card is always a plus too and I know that the Radeon 9000 mobile is decent. Anyway, I've looked around at Powernotebooks.com and they seem to have decent preconfigured packages and I know they have great reviews on resellerratings.

But does anyone have any other avenues that I can look into as far as manufacturers. The dell's are definitely nice notebooks but the times I have looked at them in the past they seem a bit pricey but they also have some great tech support if something goes out (So I hear of course). Any insights into this will be great. Thanks for the info!

I spent a little over $1200 on my 2.4ghz P4, 256mb ram, 15" SXGA+, CDRW/DVD HP Pavilion 5300 series.

keeping it at a 2.0ghz, and keeping the screen at 14.1" would leave it near $1000...works great...it's by far the best deal I've found, and I searched all over.

You may definitely want to check www.powernotebooks.com

They have some pretty economical notebooks.

powernotebooks has interested me from the beginning. They have some nice products and give some great options. I like the use of the ATI vid card in their setups too. The HP has good options as well and actually turns out to be a little cheaper but it doesn't have all the same options. Hmmmm....Its really only a few hundred in difference so I guess if Im gonna go big, then go big i say!

I was originally looking at powernotebooks.com...but the only two systems I actually liked ended up being $1500 and $1400 with nearly the same specs as my HP has...

Our office recently purchased two Sager notebooks for less than $1100 each. However the display is only 14".

Might I also suggest taking a look at www.clearanceclub.com. This week, they have a 2.0ghz Vaio (GRZ line) for approx. $1200. Includes 15inch screen, dvd-rom/cd-rw. If you want to spend a little more, they also have the same modem with dvd-r/cd-rw for approx. $1400. The laptops are mostly refurbished but I've purchased two from them (Vaio XG-500 and VAIO NV190) and have not had a problem with niether. That powernotebooks site has some good deals also.
