come oh kings of steppingID

alright, gurus of the cpu ID, come forth and examine my GIF image. tell me if my 2400+ has what it takes to run at 166FSB or if i got the wrong one.

I got the AIUHB stepping model, but this motherboard cannot handle much more of an overclock before i fail to complete booting.

Anybody else have this "model" as in stepping, and if you OC it, what did you get?

thanks

Well...AIUHB was always supposed to be one of the better steppings as far as overclocking goes. So it sounds like you got a good one!

What motherboard do you currently have? For less then $100 you could get an Epox 8RDA that is just the greatest at overclocking...you can tweak every little setting imaginable. Quite a few ppl here have this very motherboard and I'm sure they'd offer you the same advice.

Show us the silkscreen image on the die---the wcpuid screenshot doesnt contain the actual "stepping" info you are inquiring about---

Dont matter anyways---just try it---you will find out in about 30 seconds...

Hey King:

Do you know what week? My 2100 was 307 (AIHUB). Not a bad overclocker but decent. enough... got 600 mhz extra outa it @ 2.33G.

The important part is that "B". That means it's a Tbred B.

Clock it and see what she'll do.

I have 2 of the AIUHB stepping 2400s and neither will do past 150mhz.
I have one of them currently running at 2.140 Ghz (XP 2600+) and have not had a problem. Then again thats a small OC but this is on a K7S5A board with Cheapomans BIOS.

Depending on your mobo & ram...the sky is the limit on fsb. I run mine 12x193 on an epox 8rda (no mods). Some day I'll pick up some crimpers and a pot to do the vdd mod. Testing async says my ram (PC3200 Samsung) will prolly do 215 tops.

well, i have a MSI 745Ultra motherboard, that does great for overclocking [in its days] it was one of the first motherboards to support pc2700.

that screenshot is of it pretty well maxed out until i start hitting instability problems. Ill pick up an 8RDA+ right now on the egg, i just got the good old income tax return, so uncle sam bought me an Epox.

ill post up what i can get with it here in a few days. My ram is some mushkin PC2700 512MB with CL2 5 2 2 timings and on turbo mode.

thanks for some material to compare/contrast with.

Cool! Keep us posted.

When the 8rda shows up, relax the ram timings and crank up the voltage to 2.9v. That mushkin is good stuff. Oughta do 200, or close to it. And... run it in sync. Async sucks in mem benching.

2.9 Voltage?!!?!? Good lord...I'd hate to see the temps after that!
