Y2K problem

Yes I know it's 2003.

I came across a 486 DX4 computer which BIOS isn't Y2K compliant. I can set the date to today, and it seems to save it, but if I go back in the BIOS, I am suddenly in 2094, so is Windows 98.

There is no BIOS update from the board's maker. Is there a software to put an offset to the BIOS time so that Windows would have the right date/year even though the BIOS wouldn't ?

That an Award BIOS? If so, then dig out the 2094 fixer thing to go into autoexec.bat. It used to be on the Award web site but isn't anymore.

is this really a y2k bug? it sounds like a y3k bug because the y2k bug should switch 2003 to 1903 and not to 2094 well anyway, there are lot of programs which fixies these problems, i get a Disc with my new computer which checks the system and finds out if it's y2k compatible, it was a free program so you'll find it, use Google.

if that doesnt work i have no idea how you should fix this problem without changin BIOS

Peter is correct, it is a Y2K problem, and it is most likely an Award BIOS. Probably version 4.xx or early 5.xx, as they would often configure to 2094 or 2095.

Y2Kure is a freeware application that often work around Award Y2K issues. This app is a device driver that loads via the DOS config.sys file.
