voltage lowering = lower temps?

I was reading here on techimo that you can decrease temps by lowering the voltage (i have a palimo athlon xp 1800+) from 1.75 volts to 1.74 volts if i am not mistaken. Does anyone have tht thread I can see. Cuz I reset my cmos on accident and dunno what the setting is? Thanks.. **drinks more strawberry fanta that he got for .50 cents each for a 20 oz**

Well if you reset the cmos then everything is back to default...so the voltage would be reset to what it originally was at the factory.

thronka, dump your voltage to anywhere from 1.65-1.725. i had my 2100+ palomino running at 1.65v, and it dropped my maximum temp from 55C to about 50C. right now i have a TbredB 2400+ @ 1.55v @ 2800+, with a room temp of 77F, i get up to about 51 degrees celcius. so yes, lower voltage equals lower temp, but it can also equal instability.

another thing that really lowers your temp is taking the side of the case off, but it also gets quite a bit louder. [tip: if you take off the side, unhook all of your case fans, they're quite unnecissary at that point]
