CD ROM gone in 98SE Still there in W2K

Dual boot system. CD has disappeared in 98 but in 2K it shows up in explorer. Not in device manager. Tried add new hardware and says "put 98 Cd in and press any key etc. Am copying 98 CD to C: (98) drive from 2k as I type.

Need help here. It shows up as secondary master at POST.

Are you dual booting to different drives or different partitions on the same drive. was this ever working normally?

Dual booting to different partitions. C for 98 E for 2K. Was working great until I did the dreaded Windows update thing.

Since it was a fresh install of 98, it was all the updates that were available.

So you did a fresh install of w98 on the c partition and ddn't touch the w2k partition? Is that correct?

Got it fixed. I installed GoBack on 2K and for some strange reason it removed my CD ROM in 98. On a hunch I removed GoBack and when I eventually got back into 98 the CD was back.

Weird huh?

I think you need to be careful with programs like that when you dual boot.
