Wanted a bit of Help....

Hello Friends..

I m working as support professional for one of foremost Home PC sellers . Now the situation goes like this . As we support centers located virtually at every corner of the world. We are receiving thousand of calls regarding operating system problems. Most of them are related to windows XP.
Now the problem goes like this. As we hv been advised not go for a advanced technical troubleshooting for the home segement and go for clean installation. Although we hv an advance queue for backup and recovery of data. But most of customers do not hv money to pay huge amount for that. Now i want that we should be giving them some steps to recover data if Operating system or Hdd is crashed. There hv been some drastic situations and scenerios where students and home business customers hv lost data related to business, studies and waht not..

I request all of u plz hep me in finding tools , technologies methodlogies ,steps to help the cust to recover the data. I hv requested to my manger to provide us some systems for practicals and for testing of solutions.

Most probably i will be creating a free web site related to that. But for that i need lot of help from u experts out there. It will be sincere effort from my side. People are now dependent on computers and they need expertise of urs to help them out.

Some of the common issues in which backup is required..

1. Lost admin password in win2k/xp
2. Deleted some files accidently
3. Harddrive is running out of specifications
4. Accidental format of HDD
5. Dirty installation of windows on to an existing installation

and lot of others..

recover lost admin password

data loss

im not sure what hard drive running out of specifications means? out of space? the good old click of death?

Dirty installations are iffy. some work good others are sketchy. are you looking for registry cleaners? My best suggest of a dirty installation you can go two ways. run every registry/fixer possible or format and start over.
