make XP remember login for other computer

My computer on Windows 2000 has the printer, my room mate's computer is Windows XP and he uses my printer. The XP computer has the printer setup as a network printer but since my Win2k computer has guest access disabled, he can't use the printer or the network drive (we use it for file transfering) until he logs into my computer which can be a real pain in the butt. By login i mean he goes into My Network Places, selects the HOME workgroup, selects my computer and it prompts him for a user name and password at which point he logs in as a restricted user on my machine.

How can I make his computer remember the password for the printer and network drive? No i will not enable guest access, too much of a security threat.

I a peer to peer network you need to have the same user name and password on each machine. And make sure the worgroup name is the same on each pc. If you do that you should be able to print without any login boxes appearing.

We do not want the same username and password though. I really do not want him on my computer and he doesn't want me on his computer.

Well,... you don't have to share your files, just the printer.

Yeah but how do we do that? For him to use the printer he has to remotely login on my computer as a restricted user.

Maybe create a new account on your machine with restricted privileges that you use. You don't need Administrative privleges for normal use. Then he creates an account on his machine with the same username and password.

With peer to peer you are limited to what you can do unless you implement a domain environment.

You need either W2K or Windows 2003 Server. You would need another computer besides the one you have and your roommate has that would be your Domain Controller. Very powerful but probably overkill.
