How do I tell type of MoBo?

I have a Dell Optiplex GX240. I am trying to figure out what type (AT, ATX etc.) type of motherboard I have because I want to buy a new case. How do I tell what type I have? I have heard the I probably have some strange kinda made only for Dell computers.

Without a doubt it is an ATX board.

I had to replace the mobo in my cousins 2 month old Dell Dimension 2350 for him. Lightening ran in on it and Dell would not cover the repair (another story in another thread). HERE

Anyway, it was a standard mATX motherboard with a standard ATX power supply.

For a while dell was swapping 2 of the wires in the connector, and on the boards, so that a standard power supply would make them burn up, literally. But it appears that that may not be the case anymore. I saw if all else fails give dell a call and see what your options are. Ask them if it is a standard ATX connector.

It is DEFINATELY an ATX board.... the only issue is size. Just measure the width and height in mm. Tell whoever you are buying your case from that it is a board from a Dell Optiplex GX240. You should have no problems what so ever.

How many PCI slots does your board have? On most modern mobos . . .

mATX usually has 3: mATX pic

ATX usually has 5 or 6: ATX pic

EDIT: hotlinked by accident, dooh!

In the pics I linked to the PCI slots are the white ones on the lower right side of the mobos.
