Kids How hot is too hot?

How hot is too hot for a hard drive? I have a WD 120 GB 7200 RPM Special Edition.

I sat it's fine as long as it doesnt go over 40c...

I have 2 drives in my internet box, 1 running at 42-44C and the other runs at 38-39C.
Never had any problems with either drive at these temps.
Maybe going to the manufactures site and looking at the specs on your particular drive would yield info on max operating temps.

How exactly can you tell the temp?, I have never seen a progy that can do that.

Any ideas?...

Usually, through a backplane, or a HD temp sensor.
