Slave Drive?

I have a couple of Dell Dimension XPS H233 Systems
I can not get either one to take a slave drive
does anyone know if this particular pc won't take it?

the specs are as fallows:
Intel Pentium2 MMX
Ram 128MB
4gig Hard Drive
Video: STB Nitro 3D (S3ViRGE - DX/GX 375/385)
Sound: Yamaha OPL - SAx WDM Driver

It's pretty doubtful that it won't take another drive. Have you verified that the jumpers on both drives are set correctly? Some hard drives have a setting for "single drive" that won't recognize another drive if it's connected.

is it set for cable select ? that can mess it up also . also how big is the drive you are trying to add ? if it is a pII era motherboard i might not be able to see the large size drives that are sold today .

When you have the slave drive installed, what does the BIOS say? Does the bios say no device is on the slave?
