Need help with a hard drive.

I have also posted this over here.

Why does drake 9.1 change my hard drive from LBA to CHS?

In the BIOS the drives are set to auto for all settings.

It only does this for one drive. The drive is on the secondary controller as slave to a CDRW.

Now for the interesting part, This only happens in drake 9.1.

It doesn't happen with vector, slack, lycoris, or windows 98-2k-xp.

It doesn't happen if I duel boot a windows flavor and drake,
Also if I fdisk to clear all partitions the drive will change back to LBA.

The hardware in question is a Maxtor Fireball AS40.

My current partitions are like this,
hda boot, /, usr
hdd swap, var, home, tmp

Anyone seen this happen? Is this normal?

BTW there doesn't seem to be any problems, I just want to know.
