Floppy Problem

Small problem with one of my systems.
I recently changed cases and when I hooked everything up my floppy started to act up.
It seems that it does not like to read 720K disks anymore.
It use to be able to do it, but now it just says its not formated, and when I want to format it does not give me the option of 720K.

I have tried two different floppies and two different floppy cables, and I have alos tried the floppy on my second sytsem. All showed same results.
I am completely baffeled at this since these drives read 720K disks before for a very long time, and now that I changed cases they suddenly do not work. I would think it was the drive that went bad, but two drives having the same problem is just not very likely in my opinion, especialy when they were in two different machines, so if something cause one to die it would not cause the other to do so.

Any thoughts?

That is not the point, if it was I would not be posting here.

I need to be able to use 720K disks since my Keyboard's (muscial instrument) drive only suports 720K disks, and I need it transfer arrangemnts over to it.

Well, all I could suggest at the moment woud be to get a cleaning disk and clean the drives for starters. Also, might want to to into the BIOS and check the settings.

I checked the BIOS, everything is set up fine.
I guess I will have to buy a new floppy, and if that one does not work then I am going to be amazed.

MrPurple, I'm not trying to be smart but why do you need to read 720k diskettes?

The good news, a floppy drive runs about $20.

Another problem that can afflict floppies is alignment. Occasionally the drive needs to be physically adjusted but often there are software utilities that will align your drive so that it again read/writes correctly.

One utility is at: http://bserra.free.fr/utilities.htm
1541 FLOPPY DISK DRIVE HEAD ALIGNMENT PROGRAM

Check Google for more.
